2 years at Clique

It was after the completion of CIMA, I was looking for a job on August 2010. I applied to few places and was unfortunate that I had no previous experience in a senior position or I didn’t have the certificate or maybe I had the wrong qualification as some seems not to know what it is.

I found out that many people prefer expatriates to work in the Accounting department especially as Accountants and senior even with the same experience with Maldivians. In the end they end up paying more than what they will have to pay for the Maldivians. I am sure there has to be reasons for this. It is a happy note that thought the situation is like that it is changing fast with number of Maldivians getting qualified in the field.

From my brother I got the opportunity to apply for a post of Business Development Manager at Clique College. I sent the CV and was called for an interview. I was interviewed by the Managing Director of Clique College and that was the start.

Curriculum development was the new entry to my life and the most challenging one as being in the post. I am happy about the developments that we brought with the limited resources available. The most remarkable achievement I could say is bringing the Hariot-Watt Degree program to Clique College, a valuable qualification at an affordable rate. It was work of all the staffs that we were able to make it a success. I believe that this is a mile stone in the Clique history and a new step towards major development.

After working as Business Development Manager for 1.5 years I transferred to Finance department as Financial Controller, the work that I want to do most and I dream that came true. I have many hopes and have a lot to learn as being the in charge of the finance department. I will try my best to bring the necessary changes that would make our work effective and efficient. 

Up to today I have worked here for 2 years and am cheerfully celebrating it. I believe it as successful two years in my career so is worth celebrating. 

It was a success because of the enormous support I got from the loved ones. My family who has been there with all ups and downs is proud me to have me here. My friends never complain because of the busy schedule I have and always give their hand when I need them. Clique College Staff have been another big part of this. The friendly environment and the style of the work make me feel proud to be among them. Every one of them is a gem. I had a very close relationship with the students of the college. The trust they place on me and the respect they give makes me do my work better and better. They are always great.

Directors of Clique College have been very close to me. I thank them from bottom of my heart for trusting me so much and valuing my suggestions and understanding me. It is what we could expect from seniors and it is one factor which would motivate the employees. I will highlight the name of the Managing Director, Naushad Mohamed for the supportive behaviour. He has made a better person out of me.

I have several plans and with Allah’s blessing I will be able to do so. I need the love of my close ones and that would be enough for me to face any challenge in this world.
